Yes, you read that right. There is something free to do in the often very expensive city of San Francisco. Oh, and you read that other thing correctly too. We have an antique vibrator museum in our dear city, and it’s in an amazingly sex positive shop. Believe it or not, there is quite a fascinating history of this favorite household helper, including that doctors used to use it to cure ‘hysteria’ in women. The collection spans the entire 20th century (yes, that’s all the way back to the early 1800s!). So whether your great-great-grandmother had a vibrator or you’re just curious about the history, come learn about it! The museum curator of this unique space, Dr. Carol Queen, gives tours every 3rd Sunday of the month. They are free, but you must RSVP at least 72 hours in advance by calling the Polk St. store location at (415) 345-0400. Happy learning!
