I love this place. I love the staff. I love the vibe ... it feels like home to me. I've stayed in lots of hostels and this is by far the best one I've ever come across.
If there were a hundred stars, I would give it a hundred-star rating. I would stay in this hostel over a 5 star hotel, or any of those big name hotels. Anything. This was the best experience ever. I was in San Francisco for two days, and this hostel alone made my trip. It was my favorite part of all of San Francisco. Nicest people around, most outgoing, upbeat, and helpful staff. Not a single complaint.
I spent several nights at this nice, little hostel with friendly staff and homey, relaxed atmosphere and it was reaaaal fun. Fully recommend!
Without ever having been to San Francisco before and with no rhyme or reason for turning up, I managed to find myself lodged in the Tradewinds and in the good graces of Dave and have never been the same since. There are, for each of us, a few experiences so intense that they change us for ever. For so many people, that experience comes in San Francisco and within the narrow building with all the stairs and the rich aroma of Hunan cooking. For me, it has been only a month but feels like a lifetime since I was last climbing the stairs.
I love this place! Met so many great people and who can complain when the best food in town is just around the corner!
Great staff, lots of fun and memories of playing Settlers of Catan... :)
....and I reckon this was the best hostel out of the 8 I stayed in. Great location, even better staff who create and encourage a real friendly vibe - a big thumbs up if your travelling alone. The dude that cooked me poached eggs on toast for breakfast for $3, legend!
My schedule did not allow me to spend much time here, but I really wish I was able to spend more. Any down time that I had was filled with meeting new people, making new friends. The atmosphere encourages an open and familial atmosphere that seems to spread and grow. I simply loved it.
very chill hostel full of friendly staff and other visitors. located in safe area of san francisco with good public transport around. fantastic security with buzzer door, and large lockers under bunk beds for personal belongings. social, hippie atmosphere. communal bathrooms. clean. didnt have to wait to use them. hostel is a door on the road and takes stairs up so be ready for that or you might miss it/ struggle with luggage. met awesome people here, would stay again!
really like a "big family". not really to sleep, but you will find friends to party !
