“Safe Place”
Good Location and feels safe to stay there. They have lockers which are huge to put your suitcase in (bring a lock) or you can buy one for $5. Free WIFI! which is fast :) Nice people staying there too, the traffic is a little bit noisy at night but what else can you expect right in the city. Would stay here again!
I stayed a week in early November. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is up a few flights of stairs, but they'll offer to help you with your bags. Check-in/-out takes two minutes. They take a twenty dollar key deposit, refunded on check-out. Wi-fi is fast and reliable. There is a locker under your bed with ample room for a couple of suitcases. Bring your own padlock if you want to lock it.
“Awesomeness every time”
Staff and place are great. No need to worry about a thing, the friendliest but still very professional staff ever. And you can explore SF from there so easily. I met so many people as well. The living room never had a better name!
After travelling alone across the U.S. for the past 4 months and staying in some pretty great and some not so great hostels, I wouldn't hesitate to call Pacific Tradewinds the best. I arrived on a Monday and I instantly felt at home thanks to Courtney and the other guests. Hostels are usually made by the people you meet but I have never been to one before where I have been just a sad to say goodbye to the stay as the other travellers.
I would recommend Pacific Tradewinds to anyone traveling in San Francisco. I had an amazing time there, I was staying in the city for a week by myself and I met some amazing people during my stay. Everyone is very friendly and good craic. They know the city inside out and will advise you regarding the very best nightlife and sightseeing in the area. I will certainly be returning to the hostel next summer!
Stayed at Pacific Tradewinds a couple nights and I am so glad I did. Facilities are clean, modern, and all well maintained. Free internet, free storage locker under the bed, leftovers from the fridge (including beer!), and the best staff you could ask for. Great vibes and an incredibly social atmosphere makes this place worth every cent. You get hooked up with a sweet bicycle rental deal if you stay there as well.
I admit that I'm a bit of weary traveller; I haven't taken a vacation for around 6 years and apart from feeling immensely excited that I was visiting San Francisco, I also felt slightly nervous. Although, I had lived in a dorm environment before, I had not stayed in a hostel so I was not sure what to expect when I arrived at the Pacific Tradewinds.
I have travelled for 3 months and this was by far the best hostel I stayed at. I had an incredible time I will never forget. The atmosphere is great and you make really quickly contact with other guests (also because the hostel is rather small). I made a lot of friends over there. And the staff is amazing!! They were always cheerful, helped you with everything and they interact a lot with the guest and created a fantastic atmosphere. The hostel is very clean, had a great kitchen (with all kinds of free spices) and a lot of activities are organized.
“Most welcoming hostel”
Adored this hostel, the manager Courtney and staff are all awesome, and the vibe is extremely friendly, made a whole bunch of friends who I went out and saw gigs/movies with. Honestly the most fun hostel I've been in. In regards to hostel, rooms clean, bathrooms clean, beds comfy, lots of power outlets, located in a good area close to public transport and food. If I come back to San Fran I will definitely be back!
I've been in what seems like a lot of hostels and this one didn't disappoint, that's for sure.
