Awesome accomodations, staff, travelers and new friends. Can't wait to stay again and will certainly recommend to fellow travelers looking for a comfortable and homey place to meet good people. Plus, a delicious home cooked meal, can't ask for more. Great location as well.
Nice, tidy, very friendly Hostel arrangement...great staff and guests. My stay was brief, but just what I needed for price and San Fran location...Would absolutely r'cmnd for backpacker/world travelers!
I had an amazing stay at Pacific Heights Hostel, I was only intending to stay for four days and ended up staying for almost two weeks! The staff are really friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. There are a variety of personalities staying there and you are guaranteed to meet someone who can make you feel at home. There's something going on almost every night which everyone is welcome to tag along to. Travelling alone, it was great to get information about San Francisco from people who lived there and really knew the city, and you get provided with a map of the city upon arrival.
I didn't see Darren specifically that much (I was mostly out and about exploring San Francisco on my own), but the rest of the Pacific Tradewinds staff was genial and cool, and the facilities were kept up well. I would definitely recommend this as a good place to crash and meet some new people.
I called as I boarded my flight to San Francisco. Avi picked up and told me everything I needed to know about how to get there and how to get on the BART train from the airport. When I arrived I was greeted and even offered some paella to eat. There were about 8 people hanging out in the lobby and I enjoyed meeting Lorenz, Frank, and many others. Everybody had a story to tell of how they got to San Francisco and where they came from. The rooms were regular rooms with bunk beds in them. I slept in the Al Capone, it was comfortable and the bedding was clean.
Exactly as described in the listing - a social hostel for travelers. It was the perfect thing for me to stay a night while passing through SF.
Very nice hostel. I had a good time and friendly staff always help me. It is a good place to meet other travelers. And location is good, also free Wifi internet. Thank you!

This was my first time traveling to San Francisco by myself, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The crew at Pacific Tradewinds were overly generous and kind--I can't say enough to describe how great my experience was! The hostel is located in a great spot close (and within walking distance) to both Amtrak and Greyhound stations, which is a great attribute, since I had no sense of direction when first arriving. I only wish I stayed longer! I'll definitely be back again to experience the great hospitality.
